Dan Lu – Gwada

Dan Lu returns with “Gwada”, a fresh release that gives fans one more song to add to their playlists.

Malawian artist Dan Lu keeps the home sound moving on Gwada, a record rooted in the danceable pop that has made him a household name in Malawi. The title carries a street energy the groove lives up to.

Gwada works in the upbeat Malawian pop lane Dan Lu has long worked in, a danceable rhythm carrying a vocal sung in Chichewa. The writing stays grounded in everyday life and local reference, and the production keeps a bright, bouncing pulse under the lead, the kind of sound that fills parties across the country.

Dan Lu is one of Malawi’s most recognised contemporary artists, with a run of hits that have shaped the local pop scene. A danceable record like this sits at the heart of the sound that built his following.

The detail that catches is the way the hook leans into the Chichewa phrasing, the language itself giving the rhythm its bounce. That local flavour is the song’s pulse.

It suits a celebration or a night out at home, wherever the Malawian sound leads. Listeners who follow the country’s pop will know his style.
