Fola – Crime

FOLA returns with “crime,” the 11th track on his forthcoming sophomore album, 9. The 14-track project is scheduled for release on October 9, 2026, through Dangbana Republik and EMPIRE. The song has already attracted attention for its connection to Nigerian music history, as “crime” incorporates a sample from 2Baba’s classic 2006 record “If Love Is a Crime.”

On “crime,” FOLA revisits the familiar theme of love and emotion while giving the classic material a contemporary setting. The record is listed as a solo FOLA track on the official 9 tracklist, although its use of 2Baba’s earlier song creates a musical link between two generations of Nigerian artistry. The remake was previously teased by FOLA, building anticipation ahead of the album’s release.

“crime” adds another intriguing layer to 9, which follows FOLA’s 2025 debut album, Catharsis. With the upcoming project featuring artists including Davido, Ayra Starr, BNXN, Darkoo, Bella Shmurda and Zlatan on other tracks, FOLA continues to expand his sound while drawing inspiration from Nigeria’s rich musical catalogue.
